During the 27th Excellence Awards ceremony held by Minérios & Minerales magazine in Brazil, Artemyn was awarded with an innovative solution based on the reuse of kaolin waste.
The local team in Brazil developed an alternative processing route that recovers kaolin from impounds, allowing it to be used as a raw material for a newly developed product, suitable for use in different grades of paper, while maintaining the required quality.
The initiative reduces environmental and safety risks, and CO₂ emissions. It has saved 6,000 litres of diesel and cut 19.2 tons of emissions since the start of the project. It also highlights the company’s progress in sustainability since the project preserves mineral deposits as well as a longer use of impounds.
For the Artemyn team, the recognition is an important milestone.
The development of this project demonstrates that it is possible to combine innovation, reduce environmental impacts, and achieve economic gains within a single project.
The mining of the future is not only extractive, but regenerative. What was once considered an environmental problem is now becoming a profitable solution aligned with global sustainability standards.
Roberto Antonio Macedo Silva, the company’s Production Coordinator.
