Magnesium hydroxide, also known as magnesia or milk of magnesia, is a naturally occurring inorganic compound with the chemical formula Mg(OH)₂. Artemyn produces magnesium hydroxide through calcination of magnesite and its subsequent reaction with water.
Magnesium hydroxide can be used as a source of alkali or magnesium ions in pulp bleaching and is used primarily to replace sodium hydroxide and magnesium sulphate as well as resulting in the reduction of other chemicals used in the bleaching process.
